Shirley Ann (Sterling) Altland

Shirley A. Altland, 84, of Dillsburg passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Carlisle Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

   Shirley was born on Thursday, November 14th, 1940, the daughter of the late Richard and Mildred Miller Sterling.

   She was the widow of Larry E. Altland.

   Shirley was a retired packer at the Book of the Month Club in Mechanicsburg and was a former member of Barrens United Lutheran Church, Dillsburg. She enjoyed farming and driving her Farmall tractor. 

   Shirley is survived by a son, Dennis W. Altland and his wife Karen of Dillsburg; one sister, Nancy Schlappich of Myerstown; five grandchildren, Brandon, Clint, Elizabeth, Lilly-Ann, Emily; several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death along with her parents and husband by two sons, Larry E. Altland, Jr. and James R. Altland; and three siblings, Kenneth Sterling, Patsy Vaughn, and David Sterling. 

   Services will be held Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 10:30 am in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg. A viewing will be held Thursday from 9:30-10:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Barrens Salem Union Cemetery, Dillsburg. 

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
