Thelma Arlene (Miller) Staub

Thelma Arlene Staub, 97, of Dillsburg passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Celebration Villa, Dillsburg. 

   She was born October 6, 1926, in Highspire, PA the daughter of the late Alton C. and Romaine "Minnie" (Cover) Miller.

   Thelma was the widow of Ira V. Staub, Sr.

   She was a homemaker, worked part-time at the Laukmann's Greenhouse in Dillsburg and the Wellsville Baby Shoe Factory.

   She was a charter member of the Wolgamuth Church of the Brethren in Dillsburg where she also taught Bible School, Sunday School, Bible Adventure Program, and served on the church board.

   Thelma enjoyed being a seamstress who made her children's clothing and wedding dresses. She also enjoyed cooking, camping with her church family and singing in the choir.

   She is survived by her children, Dorothy Seitz (Gene), Diane Higgins (Earl dec.), Shirley Williams (Ronald), Nancy Suter (Simeon dec.), Ira Staub (Brenda); her siblings, Richard Miller, Doris Miller (Doll), Margaret Miller, David Miller, Kenneth Miller, Donald Miller, Barry Miller, Evelyn Miller; grandchildren, Karen Gutshall, Sharon Doll, Erin Torok, Michael Higgins, Mark Higgins, Wayne Essick, Bryan Essick, Connie Zollers, Jodi Shaffer, and Ryan Staub; nineteen great-grandchildren and seventeen great-great-grandchildren.

   Thelma was preceded in death by two baby children, Iris Arlene and Baby Girl; one daughter, Donna Essick (Wayne); four brothers, George Arnold, Edward Arnold, Alton Miller, Earl Miller, one sister, Alma Miller.

   Services will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00 am in the Wolgamuth Church of the Brethren, 276 Old York Rd., Dillsburg. A viewing will be held Saturday from 10-11 am at the church. Burial will be held in the Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin.
