Thomas Eugene Mathis, 70, of Gettysburg passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at his home.
He was born May 7, 1953, in Baltimore, MD the son of the late James Lee Haynes and Theda Ruth Arnold-Haynes.
Tom is survived by his children, James Mathis (Stephanie) of Hanover, Jacqueline Mathis (Garrett) of Littlestown, Chris Idelman of Linthicum, MD; his daughter-in-law, Rhonda Mathis (T.J.) of Gettysburg; his grandchildren, Ethan Frank (Annabelle) of Fayetteville, Erianne Frank of Littlestown, Lewis Hicks (Felicia) of Glen Burnie, MD, Lucas Witt (Katlyn) of Gettysburg, Cheyenne Eiker (Dylan) of Biglerville, William Mathis of Gettysburg, Isolde Smith of Littlestown; his great-grandchildren, Laurella Frank of Fayetteville, Rainiah Forbes of Littlestown, Rosalie Forbes of Littlestown, Eredin Frank of Fayetteville; his sisters, Wanda White of Dundalk, MD, Brenda Haynes-Lester, Aberdeen, MD, Linda Haynes of Havertown; his five nephews, two nieces and his best friend Donna Williams of Lancaster, VA.
He will be welcomed in heaven by his mother and father and his beloved boxer Harley.
Tom enjoyed building racecars and going to the races and dragstrips. He loved to play the electric guitar and listen to music including 70's Alice Cooper, Molly Hatchet, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Ghost of War.
He raised his three younger sisters while their mother worked around the clock. Tom also owned a music store from 1996-2001 in Glen Burnie, MD called the "House of Rock"
