Virgil N. Books

Virgil N. Books, 93, of Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on his 93rd birthday on September 16, 2023.

   He was born September 16, 1930, in Upland, CA. He graduated from Upland Academy and married his high school sweetheart, Charity N. (Widmer) Books on March 22, 1951. She passed away December 29, 2015. He felt called into the Brethren in Christ Church ministry at the age of 27 and graduated from Upland College in 1962. He pastored the Sandia BiC Church in Albuquerque, NM, the Fairview Avenue BiC Church in Waynesboro, PA, and the East Lake BiC Church in Palm Harbor, FL. 

   He is survived by his son, Vincent C. Books, and his daughter-in-law, Janna M. Books, of Carlisle, PA, his daughter -in-law, Donna Detweiler, of Albuquerque, NM, his granddaughters, Tasha N. Trujillo (Jospeh), of Navarre, FL, Chelsea D. Books (Fraire), of San Jose, Costa Rica, Danielle Books (Daniel, of Longmont, CO, and Genevi L. Wheeler (Randy), of Newport News, VA; 8 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Joyce F. Chamberlain (Daniel), of Ocean Springs, MS. He was predeceased by his sister Jule, his brother Maynard, his sister Lola, his son Jeff, and his grandson Dylan.

   Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the Grantham Cemetery, Grantham, PA.
