Virginia "Ginny" Ruth (Grimm) Shatto

Virginia "Ginny" Ruth (Grimm) Shatto,  age 87 of Dillsburg passed away on Saturday evening, September 30, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family.

   She was born on Tuesday, March 10, 1936 to Gerald Shaw Grimm and Margaret (Heiges) Grimm Rutters, in Dillsburg, York County, Pennsylvania.  

   Ginny graduated with a teaching degree from Elizabethtown College and went on to teach business at Bermudian Springs High School and later worked as the bookkeeper at Wayne Feed Store, Dillsburg. She was also a former employee with Haar's  Auction, working in the concession stand, and Rite Aid.  She was a member of Monaghan Presbyterian Church, Dillsburg where she served as the church's secretary for over 25 years.  She was assistant treasurer of the Dillsburg Farmer's Fair Association and the Dill Pickle having started with the organization in the early 1970's and serving on the executive board since the 1980's where she served as Secretary.  She also served on the Dillsburg Borough's 150th anniversary committee and was a charter member of NYCHAPS.

   Ginny was the widow of the late James M. Shatto. 

   She is survived by her loving family, her son,  Timothy J. Shatto, of Dillsburg.  Her sister, Juanita M. Horvath, of Dover.  Her granddaughter, Devon Shatto and great-grandsons, Vincent & Colson.  In addition to her parents and husband, Ginny was predeceased by her brothers: Richard Grimm, Robert L. Grimm, William Grimm, Donald K. Grimm, Vernon Grimm, Ronald Rutters and her sister, Betty Rosman.

   Services will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 11:00 am in Monaghan Presbyterian Church, 1185 Gettysburg Pike, Dillsburg, PA. Visitation will be held at Cocklin Funeral Home,Inc., 30 N. Chestnut Street, Dillsburg, PA on Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and again on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will take place in the Dillsburg Cemetery-Mountain Road.
