William Earl Smith, 65, of Dillsburg passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at his home.
He was born April 8, 1959, in Dillsburg, the son of the late Rev. Howard W. and E. Lorene (Leer) Smith.
Bill was a graduate of Northern High School and Messiah College. After college he pursued his passion for teaching. Bill taught for 37 years all of those years were with the Bermudian Springs School District, where he was currently teaching second grade. He never missed a day of school in all those years. He loved teaching and his students. He would decorate his class and hallway every month with a different theme. Bill will be surely missed by his school family.
Bill also had a passion for music. He was an organist for over 30 years and played at St. John "Franklin" Lutheran Church and Lower Bermudian Lutheran Church. But his real love was flowers. He had a green thumb that stretched to his shoulder. He enjoyed sharing and caring for anything in a pot with dirt in.
Services will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg. Viewings will be held Friday from 6-8 pm and Saturday from 10-11 am at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Dillsburg Cemetery-Mountain Road.
