William Wilson Obituary

William Wilson, 64, of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill.

Bill was born May 23, 1960, in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late James Edward and Mary Delores (Lowry) Wilson.

He attended Frankford High School in Philadelphia and received his Associates degree from Philadelphia Textile and Carpentry School in 1980.  At 16, he won the Golden Gloves championship at the Harrogate Boxing Club. Bill was a talented contractor and specialized in residential home renovations. He owned his own business, Sonlight Windows, for 30 years and had recently retired. Outside of work, he became a minister and founded Burning Lamp Ministries International in 2004. He had a passion for serving the homeless and underprivileged communities in the greater Harrisburg, York, and Philadelphia areas, as well as mentoring people on their spiritual journeys. A devout Philly sports fan, Bill loved collecting and selling sports memorabilia and opened up his own shop at the West Shore Farmers Market in 2015. He enjoyed volunteering with the Salvation Army of Harrisburg, frequenting the local Home Depot, reading, taking care of his lawn and garden, and spending time with his family.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Gethen (Getty) L. (Kyle) Wilson; his daughters, Kimberly M. Wilson of Riverside, NJ, Amber L. Szumla and her husband Daniel of Mechanicsburg, and Megan L. Warren and her husband Brendan of Carlisle; seven siblings, Susan, Michael, James, Thomas, Kathleen, Patrick, and Maureen; six grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler, Isaac, Noah, Graham, and Zoey; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as siblings Mary and Joseph Wilson.
